About the exam:

This is the complete exam for the ‘Orange Rock Guitar Intermediate course’. The Orange Rock Guitar Intermediate course is the equivalent to starting at Grade 3 level and finishing at Grade 5. Students are marked by a professional guitarist and qualified examiner. Includes a free mock exam.

What’s in the exam:

The exam comprises questions from the following Intermediate course lessons:

1. Bar chords – Sara will ask you to play a randomly selected bar chord progression
2. Tapping study – Sara will ask you to play a randomly selected tapping study progression
3. 3 note per string scales – Sara will ask you to play a random selection of these scales
4. 5 positions of the A minor pentatonic – Sara will ask you to play a randomly selected position of the A minor Pentatonic scale
5. Bending – Sara will ask you to play a randomly selected bending exercise
6. Performance piece – Sara will ask you the name of your piece, the author(s) and the publisher, and to then play your piece
7. Aural – Sara will ask you to play back a random selection of music by ear and to identify musical tonalities
8. Sight reading – Sara will ask you to play a ‘not before seen’ random melody and/or chordal progression
9. Improvisation – Sara will select an improvisation track for you to play over with the sheet music
10. Theory – This will be presented as a timed multiple choice question page which Sara will mark automatically

Materials used: All course materials used in the exam are available in the exam environment for download apart from your chosen piece.
